What to Expect

Here's what happens during your visit, so you can come prepared and feel at ease.

Your voice and swallowing evaluation includes a detailed history and high-definition videostroboscopy — a specialized scope that visualizes vocal cord vibration in slow motion. For swallowing complaints, we may perform FEES (a scope passed through the nose to observe swallowing in real-time) or arrange a modified barium swallow study. Treatment may include voice therapy with a speech pathologist, medical management for reflux, office-based injection procedures, or microsurgery in the operating room. We tailor treatment to your diagnosis, vocal demands, and goals.
