What to Expect

Here's what happens during your visit, so you can come prepared and feel at ease.

Your sleep evaluation begins with a comprehensive assessment of your symptoms, medical history, and a focused upper airway examination. We arrange sleep testing — either home-based or in-lab — to determine the presence and severity of sleep apnea. Based on your results and anatomy, we discuss a personalized treatment hierarchy. For mild cases, lifestyle modifications and oral appliances may suffice. Moderate-to-severe cases may benefit from CPAP, Inspire implant, or surgical options. Drug-induced sleep endoscopy can identify the exact level of obstruction to guide targeted surgical therapy.

When to See a Doctor

Seek evaluation if you snore loudly, have witnessed breathing pauses during sleep, wake up gasping or choking, experience excessive daytime sleepiness, or have been told you stop breathing at night. Untreated sleep apnea significantly increases risk of hypertension, heart disease, stroke, and motor vehicle accidents. If you cannot tolerate CPAP, our specialists can offer alternative treatments including the Inspire implant.
